Who are Bev’s clients? Mark Weinberg, Director, The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs,
Ohio University, Athens, Ohio
When Bev first began to work with the Voinovich School about 6 years ago, she was consulting with the University on Federal appropriations for energy projects and becoming formally involved in strategic coaching. Since that time, she’s helped us craft our Public Service and Leadership Program; served as a coach to most of our senior staff and she’s served as a senior advisor to me. Initially Bev conducted ten weeks of individual coaching sessions with members of our staff and she also involved some of her associates from the leadership coaching program at Georgetown University. Since then she’s acted as a coach for community leaders we work with including a prominent mayor and the head of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio.
Responses to Bev’s work have three common themes that I hear repeatedly; that it’s really helped her clients figure out longer-term understandings of where they’re going with their careers; her coaching has made them understand how to be better manager/leaders within the Voinovich School and that they are pleased that we, as an institution, are investing in their career. Looking forward, we are now building on our strategic leadership program (which is based on the public value concept developed by Mark Moore at Harvard), and Bev is working with us to develop strategic coaching for public and non-profit leadership to help them employ the concept of creating public value through their work. |
